The Specusphere is a free webzine that focuses on the Australian fantasy, sci-fi and horror industries. We publish feature articles, interviews, reviews and fiction pieces. We are always seeking casual contributions from writers as well as more volunteers to help run the website. Benefits of being involved are exposure (on a reputable online magazine) and experience working with a team of dedicated volunteers.

It is an experimental enterprise open to partners and collaborators. All that is needed to join is passion, vision and a willingness to share responsibility.

A regular contributor to magazines such as Dance Australia and Music Maker, she was dance critic for The Australian in Perth for five years. She has recently turned to fiction and is currently working on a fantasy novel.
Satima holds a BA in Religious Studies, an Associate Diploma in Performing Arts (Dance) and the certificate of the Federation of Australian Astrologers. To put bread on the table, she writes and edits to order, mainly academic papers, family history and astrology. Her hobbies are mostly work-related and include research in the fields of astrology and family history, as well as reading Shakespeare with friends and writing the odd bad sonnet.

Stephen Thompson — Publisher, Editor, Writer
Stephen is the originator and publisher of The Specusphere. His website is at www.essteemedia.com
Stephen believes in that to remain fresh and vital a webzine needs to continuously re-invent itself and to experiment with new directions. After almost 10 years at the helm of The Specusphere he has decided that, in order to evolve, The Specusphere needs to undergo a radical transition. To that end, he has taken a back seat in the running of the site to allow for the creative flair of younger editors to drive the project further. However, Stephen will continue to fund the website to make it all possible. He will also continue to give input into the development of the website and he remains the primary editor for articles and fiction.
Since 1997 Stephen has pursued an interest in creative writing that he'd been nurturing for over 25 years. His publishing credits include poetry, radio drama, short fiction, non-fiction, music and screenwriting.
Stephen is a committed believer in life long learning and self-directed study. He studied General Philosophy at Sydney University in the late 70s and completed Open Learning courses in a variety of sciences during the 80s and 90s.
Stephen has an industry recognised Diploma of Editing (Publishing) and works as a freelance editor, proofreader and publisher in Brisbane. He is the primary editor for most articles in The Specusphere.
